There's SO much more to it than power. Not to mention the fact that you have to be a great driver (something most people are NOT). Having the car in tune is the most obvious thing (boost leaks fixed, proper gas mixture, adjusting for temps, cooldowns between runs, etc). Aside from that, you have to deal with traction. A loss of traction will yield horrible times but you'll usually be able to get a good idea of the power and capability of the car by the MPH. If that is still low, go back to the first step about checking the car for issues. Timing, spark plugs, leaks, etc. We've had cars with the power for 10s for YEARS in this scene. The problem is that we haven't had the right combination of good tracks, good weather, good drivers and good traction. That is finally changing. This is why we have cars with 500RWHP pulling very low 11s in street trim while it took 600+RWHP cars to get the same thing just a year ago.
